Study in Italy

Foundation year for foreign students at University of Pavia

The University of Pavia is pleased to announce that the Foundation Year (FY) has been established for the year 2019/20. It is the only preparatory course in Italy for international students who do not have the previous 12 years of schooling, which are necessary to enroll in a single-cycle three-year degree program in Italy.

The course is also meant for students interested in learning or improving their Italian language skills. Students who pass the Foundation year final exams will meet the minimum entry requirements for undergraduate study at the University of Pavia, and be exempted from the Italian Proficiency University admission test.

Please note that students applying to degrees with limited enrollment must still take the admission test.
The course includes both Italian language classes and courses from one of the following areas of studies:
(1) Humanities

  • History of Art and Archeology
  • Italian Literature
  • Ancient and Medieval History
  • Philosophy

(2) Science

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Physics

(3) Economics, Law and Politics
