When: MARCH 16, 6:30PM
Where: MUSEO ITALO AMERICANO (BUILDING C)
Dr. Antonella Vitale (UC Berkeley) in conversation with Dr. Laura E. Ruberto (Berkeley City College) will explore the role that Italian film and media played in the lives of everyday Italian women and the intersections between Italian feminism, film, and news media. Italian cinema reached its peak of popularity between the years of the “economic miracle,” beginning in the 1950s through the social and political transformations of the 1960s and 1970s. The development of Italian second wave feminism in the late 1960s and early 1970s further impacted Italian film culture as well as Italian news media.
